This unassuming 150-year-old karoo farm house and stables is an absoulte must when passing through the Karoo. It's a perfect half way point between Durban & Cape Town. Situated only an hour and a half from Colesberg in a quaint little town called Richmond. Klaradyn and Nicol Grobler have created a unique composition of old Karoo antiques and modern day items that contrast so beautifully with the warm sands and lush green prickle pears of the Karoo. They offer mouth watering breakfasts and dinners that make you jiggle in your seat and not to mention the wonderful hospitality.
Klaradyn and Nicol Grobler have ventured into creating a stunning Karoo Padstal only 20 mins drive from Richmond. Filled with delectable jars of peaches, figs, citrus marmalades and prickly pear preserves. Homemade treats fill the cafe with sweet-smelling aromas while you sit drinking coffee over looking windmills and the vast landscape through a giant window. I can honestly say it may be the best Padstal I've ever seen!
Montagu took me by surprise! With the clean swept streets, small quaint stalls, Saturday morning markets and being totally surrounded by the beautiful cape mountains was just spectacular. The Jonkmanshof residence transcends the concept of time with prehistoric contemporary intertwined with the 18th century architecture of the home. Taking long leisurely baths with the shutters drawn open soaking up the magnificent scents of Aēsop was just #delectable. Not to mention climbing into our bed that was made up of 100% fresh white linen, felt heavenly! Jonkmanshof is truly beautiful and the detail doesn't go unnoticed.

The morning breakfast table celebrates produce from the area and organic eggs from the happy hens that roam the garden. Freshly pressed citrus & greens are served with your fresh hot pot of coffee, mmh. Not only is the brekkie fresh and delectable but served in gorgeous antiques and ceramics by Mervyn Gers.
